RE: burning movies with soft subs?
If you can't figure it out, you can always do what Ron suggested: hook your PC/laptop on your TV monitor...

Just have the necessary connectors/cables... idk what they're called but they're the ones with red and white ends for audio, and yellow ends for video... then go to "Display Properties" by rightclicking your wallpaper; then click on the "Settings" option; then click the monitor displayed with the number one. Another window box will appear; then, click on the Displays" option. images of monitors will appear, click on "TV" with red button and then click "apply" button... and voila! you can watch on tv whatever's playing on your PC or laptop

Hope the girl appreciate the efforts you're making just to impress her! lol

RE: burning movies with soft subs?
And they call me the mean mod T_T see I'm nice.. Endorsing promiscuity amongst our youth is what I’m here for ^_^ lol

Ok umm where should I begin.. It's kinda long and it'll seem difficult at first but honestly the installing of the programs is the most difficult parts.. The embedding is a bit difficult your first time around but you'll get the hang of it and it'll be very simple in no time.. I swear I feel as if there was a thread already for this but I can't find it anywhere..

Ok first things first the downloading.. Download VDM and install it.. Once you've installed VDM download VobSub as well and start installing it.. When it (Vobsub)asks you to choose the components to install click everything EXCEPT VobSub for AviUtil.. Also install it in the same folder as VDM so you don't ever delete it accidentally because it's very important..

Ok now the guide starts..

1. Open VDM, click file>open video file and then find the movie you want to embed the subs on..

2. Click Video>Filter and then click ADD and then LOAD..

3. Now find where you installed VobSub and look for the file that says "TextSub" and select that one.. Press ok

4.On that list scroll all the way down and locate "TextSub" 2.23 (or 2.25 I don't know if there was an update) select it and click OK now click Open and locate the subs and select it.. In that same window you can change the style/size/color of the subs by clicking "Styles".. I wont get into that though, you just experiment with it later so for now just click ok on everything

5.On the bottom of the screen are some controls, click the second play button (should have a little 0 or O on it) and now you can preview your movie on the 2nd screen and how the original without subs looks on the 1st..

8.If you're ok with the style then first click HOME on your keyboard but at the very beginning of the video then scroll all the way to the end of the video and click END on your keyboard now you can save the file by pressing F7 or going to File>Save As of course lol.. If you're not ok with the style of the subs then follow the last step first then do step 9

9.In this save screen click the button at the bottom that says "Change" and change the codec to preferably "DivX 6.8 Codec (2 Logical CPU's)" although I am not sure if it'll say 6.8 still since it had an update that I haven't downloaded yet..

10. If you don't like the style of the subs then click Video>Filters click on the subtitle on the screen there then click Configure>Styles and go ahead and adjust it however you like..

hey hey hey.... im not trying to be promiscuous with this girl. we're both Christians so im not trying to get in her pants. hahaha!
and were not youth youth. both over 18 and over so its all gravy. haha

anyways it in progress saving right now. so pray that it works.

and also i am not able to use the divx encoder because when i choose it and hit save, it gives an error. so this time i just left it uncompressed so hopefully it works. any ideas why it the divx doesn't work?

It'll most definitely work but problem is it's gonna be a pretty LARGE file.. It'll be even bigger then the original file size was.. Can you screencap the error for me and post it here I'll try to see if I can figure it out ^_^

theres what it says when i try to use divx...

man i only got 20% through the rendering uncompress and it was already at 24 gigs! u werent kidding about the file size, but i tested the video and it did work with the subs and everything so thats a good sign.

edit:

o yeah and if i use the divx codec will i still be able to burn it on a regular cd as a video cd to watch it on certain dvd players that can play vcds?

RE: burning movies with soft subs?
I've never seen that error code before.. Try reinstalling divx codec if you don't already have it and then try it again.. If that still don't work then trey using the Xvid codec instead.. I've never used the Xvid codec but I heard that it's file size results are almost the same as Divx..

BTW I like your organized desktop lol.. My desktop is a hot mess..

EDIT:

Oh whoops forgot to reply to something else.. Yes I am almost sure it'll work on your dvd player once you've burned it.. If the video does not show up on your tv then it might be because you have to convert the file to DVD format.. I suggest WinAVI which you can get by COUGHp2pCOUGH.. All my files have worked on my dvd player though so I'm sure there won't be a problem..
