The name 21 became 2NE1 due to another artiste having the same name who debuted back in 2005. The added NE in the new name stands for "New Evolution".

LG Cyon, together with YG entertainment, officially released the CF for their Lollipop phone series (LG-SV800, KH8000, LH8000). The said CF caters towards the young generation and features music, choreography and fashion.
The lyrics was done by YG Entertainment's Teddy, and produced by Big Bang's GDragon.
The Lollipop MV featuring Big Bang and 21 (The official name of Female Big Bang) will be released on 3rd April on LG Cyon's homepage. Read news

Female Big Bang, as the netizens named them, will be releasing "Lollipop", a digital single on sites like Melon and Mnet on March 27, 2009, and the CF MV for LG Electronics CYON's "Lollipop phone" on March 28, 2009.
Big Bang worked with them in this LG Cyon project, and the two groups filmed the CF last March 18, 2009. Read news regarding this below.
YG Entertainment stated: "Big Bang GDragon has a part in the lyrics and composing for Lollipop CF. And from March, the group will officially debut. Because of the amount of time into preparing this, we have many good songs for them and they will be promoting till the end of this year."
On a much
earlier news, it was revealed that the female group will debut last February, then it was moved to April then to May but looks like YG Entertainment has moved their debut earlier.

Big Bang and the female Big Bang have filmed a CF yesterday, March 18, 2009. The said CF will be released in April, a month before the debut of the Female Big Bang.
The product to be endorsed remains undisclosed but reports said that both Big Bang and the female Big Bang have plans to sing a new song together for the CF.
Contrary to previous reports, the female Big Bang will only have four members namely CL, Park Bom, Gong Min Ji and Sandara Park and their official name is yet to be announced.
