A couple of weeks ago, Filipino TV host Bianca Gonzales in cooperation with Studio 23 and abs-cbn, went to South Korea to interview Dara of 2ne1 and other K-pop faves of Filipinos. The interview, which took place at the backstage of SBS Inkigayo, was aired on today's (July 25) episode of Entertainment Live, an abs-cbn Saturday entertainment talk show.
Dara, who remained fluent in Tagalog/Filipino, candidly answered questions fired by Gonzales.
When asked what she missed in the Philippines, she said sinigang (a Filipino soup dish), pinakbet (an Ilocano vegetable dish) and dried mangoes. She also said she missed performing in SCQ (Star Circle Quest) Reload and ASAP (a Sunday noontime musical show).
Pictures of her SCQ friends are also shown like Joross Gamboa, who she said is her best friend; Melissa Ricks, whom she stayed with when she went back to the Philippines on August of last year; and, Hero Angeles, who was rumored to be her boyfriend but she clarified that he was not.
When asked if 2ne1 has plans to perform in the Philippines, she candidly answered that she wants to perform in Araneta Coliseum (one of the biggest concert venues in the Philippines) but that they will perform first in ASAP. She further said that they (2ne1) are just waiting for decisions and invitations.
The 2ne1 members were also present and they introduced themselves in Tagalog (how cute!). They cheered "Mabuhay" and then CL said "Ako po si CL" and Minzy said "Ako po si Minzy" which means "I am..." Park Bom, on the other hand, said in English that she is Bom Park and that she is the main vocal of the group.
After the short group interview, they waved the famous Sandara wave that Filipinos learned to love and is solely associated with Dara back in her SCQ days.
The interview was also shown in
2ne1 TV as an 8-second peek..
So, abs-cbn and YG Entertainment, let's make it happen. If this big event pushes through, 2ne1 will be the first K-pop group to perform in the Philippines, and hopefully, with other YG Entertainment artists like Big Bang, Teddy, Se7en and Goo Hye Sun.
