SUMMARY

In the near future, when the society of Japan is crumbling, forty-two students find that their field trip is actually a military-sponsored game known as "Battle Royale". The kids' sadistic former teacher Kitano sends them to an isolated island and gives them three days to kill each other until only one remains. Two of the kids, Shuya and Noriko, stay together and further develop their already-formed bond. A transfer student, Kawada, sympathizes with the two and chooses to help them. Others develop a plan to bring down the military game, try to find their crush before they die, or lose their minds and go on killing sprees.

REVIEWS

This is a heart-stopping action film, teaching us the worthy lessons of discipline, teamwork, and determination, but wrapping them up in a deliberately provocative, shockingly violent package.

As usual, Fukasaku directs Battle Royale with force and conviction, even as the tone of the picture veers back and forth from unabashedly ludicrous to deadly serious.

The first movie was so great. The second one sucked.

Amen to that. People ask for it at the kiosk all the time, and we've only had 2...I've lost so many sales bcause of that!

I agree the 1ºone was great but the 2 was soo hugh...not that good...just ok to watch

i watched the first one too.. quite shocking that they ahve to go and kill each other.

never heard of this series

This was such a great movie. The first time I watched it, I thought it would be too gory, and pointless, and I very nearly turned it off. Anyway, I kept it on, and what a great movie. Cute little Japanese girls with machine guns! The sequel was definitely a dissapointment. Watched about 30 mins of it

like most of you said, only first part is movie, second part is the worst movie I watched (in fact, watched only half, then turned off dvd)

i dont like both of the series they are too violent and brutal

it was gd..... but gross!
