Yep I agree. The books became to long to even care anymore even though I still read them and somehow manage to finish them I would prefer to watch the harry potter movies rather then read the book. The next book I heard is going to be as long gas two dictionaries Duh

actually, books are better than movies b/c the movies always make up some scenes that are never mentioned in the books or cut some scenes..therefore it makes the movies false..and books like what some says has details..

RE: are books really better than the movies?
personally i think that books are better then movies. seeing that when i watched eragon i was really disappointed.. and i found some of the scenes totally different from the book.
i think watching a movie knowing that you've read the book before. sometimes become a really bad disappointment, because people tend to imagine the book in their minds. so when you go into a movie with your imagination from the book, you usually get disappointed cause the movie depicts something different from what you actually thought it'd be. Toungue
but it usualy differs.. people who don't like to read watch movies.. and so they tend to like the movie better? o_O
i think it's just choice, and taste. ^^

I do think that books are better than movie...usually because you take more time reading a book and more time to appreciate the story...you can imagine it more...in a movie...you are told what it is by the producer / director...so your imagination is not really at work anymore....don't know if this made sense...but that's my opinion

reading the book itself allows you to have a great and wild imagination. however, if you watch the movie after reading the book, I guess most of the time fans would be disappointed lol. I'm a fan of Harry Potter, when the first installment of the series was released years back, I was quite let down, it didn't come out as what I've imagined!!

I would say most books are better as they let you imagine the scene to how you want it whilst films set the scene for you to watch and films do skip out a lot of things e.g. I thought the Harry Potter books were much better than the films though the latest films are OK the books are more interesting.

RE: are books really better than the movies?
Most of the times books are better than the movies. Harry Potter books are better than the movies although I love the movies too. But one day I read the book An Affair and then I watched the movie and I liked more the movie than the book. But that is my opinion, you can have a different opinion so the best thing to do is read the books and watch the movies to compare.
