Didn't see a thread for Tae Guk Gi so I decided to make one.

In 1950, in South Korea, the shoe-shiner Jin-tae Lee and his eighteen years old student brother Jin-seok Lee form a poor but happy family with their mother, Jin-tae's fiancé Young-shin Kim and her young sisters. Jin-tae and his mother are tough workers, who sacrifice themselves to send Jin-seok to the university. When North Korea invades the South, the family escapes to a relative's house in the country, but along their journey, Jin-seok is forced to join the army to fight in the front, and Jin-tae enlists too to protect his young brother. The commander promises Jin-tae that if he gets a medal he would release his brother, and Jin-tae becomes the braver soldier in the company. Along the bloody war between brothers, the relationship of Jin-seok with his older brother deteriorates leading to a dramatic and tragic end.

Thought this movie was very dramatic, which I enjoyed, but it was sad to see Lee Eun-Joo, such a beautiful woman, to be in this movie because she committed suicide in 2004. Heartbreaking...

Yeah it was sad to hear she committed suicide. Great movie, and it has WOn Bin!!

So sad to hear about Lee Eun-Joo. She showed the way and U-Nee followed her.

Yeah, both of them were really great entertainers and it's a real shame that they are no longer here with us.

Back to the movie, it's a touching movie, but I didn't like it due to the fact that I dislike war movies in general.

well...i couldnt say that i love this movie because throughout the whole movie i was like covering my face because of the injure soldiers!(pretty scary) however i do think it's a sad movie.

Lee Eun Joo RIP

This was a really good movie! it was one of the first i ever watched....i like the story and the action wasn't too bad either. I recommend this movie!

This is my favorite movie, I love the storyline, the loyalty in the relationship between the two brothers is amazing, and how the Korean War was portrayed. Excellent film all around!

Yep best war movie ever made in my opinion. I hate how westerners are comparing it to Saving Private Ryan. They also call it over dramatic as if war is supposed to be puppy dogs and rainbows -_-.

That movie was so good, and so sad. One of my favorite movies.
And Won Bin looked hot.
