Anyone else enjoying it? I love the middle ground of the fighting system. It's casual in approach like Brawl but can be practiced into a more elaborate system when you play it often.

The focus system really pulled me out in my fair share of rapid attack pressuring. Like when your opponent starts to find a rhythm to use against you and you suddenly stop him in his tracks with a focus strike.
i never liked the strret fighters there were too many buttons for attacks
3 for punching 3 for kicks and like another 2 for blocking
but i guess i could give it a try
turtle technique ftw!!
I can't wait for you to bring to club Strider! I'm watching the guys play it here in the study room...

Two for blocking? o.0

You just hold backwards to block, and crouch while holding back to crouch block. Games like Soul Calibur employ a button based block.

Anyways, I usually enjoy games like these above simplified games. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for example only had two, but I felt limited in standard attacks. I mean, to do a heavy attack, you had to attack with the medium button consecutively! And Smash Bros. depends more on movement and placement then other fight games.

I usually prefer defensive characters that can easily turtle like Guile or Dhalsim.

They're playing it in the study lounge!? Dammit!
i'm totally stoked for SF IV! haven't got it yet, but once i do, it will be awesome! i grew up playing all the SF games. from super nintendo to now xbox. it will be sweet to try the online play. i too, like the simplicity of the buttons and game play. i liked soul calibur, but that has way too many different attacks to know. anyways, back to SF IV. i'm going to enjoy this improved graphics with all the classic stages and characters.
It's surprising and yet not surprising that it works by normal 2D hitboxes and not 3D collision detection. I like that part as well.
Pretty fun but not fun without some arcade sticks such as Hori sticks Big Grin Big Grin

The game is fun and the graphics are nice. I would say this game is a staple for any console since it's a legendary game. When you think of fighting games, you think of street fighter.

Still trying to buy myself an arcade stick maybe haha and before this game, I barely touched my PS3. Anyone get the Collectors edition with the 2 toys and the movie?

What's everyone's favourite character? Mine are Ryu as always!! I heard Sagat is the best in the game with his long reach and unpredictable fire flames. The worst character is Vega which sucks haha....

i heard the joystick for SFIV is like $149 or so. anyways, my fav character is ryu, too. he's the best!
Mine is Chun-Li! It used to be Ryu, but because Kristin Kreuk is playing Chun-Li in the Chun-Li movie, I dedicated myself to her, whether I like her fighting style or not xD

I've yet to play the game, but I think I will be able to play soon Smile
Ryu, the staple, has been powered up much more then in past incarnations I believe. A friend of mine told me his iconic shoryuken has impressive priority.

Sagat is a beast. His knee crush has surprising range, will hit enemies coming down from a jump, crazy heavy punches, and some people are calling his EX Tiger Uppercut a God Uppercut because of it's damage and priority.

Asides from Dhalsim for his creative zoning and range strategies (and can string both his ultra and super together consecutively), I've developed a bond with El Fuerte. He's really fast, his dash can be used to get out of sticky situations, and his wall jump sends him flying across the stage. It doesn't hurt that his ultra is a grab technique, making it "unblockable".

Oh yeah, arcade has this interesting thing I love. People online can challenge you in the middle of arcade mode, making it as close as possible to playing a real arcade machine and having a stranger drop some quarters to challenge you. Nice touch Capcom.
