RE: Any college students?
really, REALLY dislike finals. I especially dislike having to write SO many papers! Ugh. Why?
But, of course, it's all my fault. I'm the one who procrastinated and left these things to the last minute. *sigh* I mean, they're not technically due until Monday, by 5pm, but STILL -- it's already Sunday (technically) and I have to go to work today. *sigh again*
Gah, sorry -- it's only my second post and I'm already complaining. I hope no one minds too much that I'm ranting/complaining.
If there's anyone out there who can help me STOP procrastinating, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks!
(and HI! I promise, I'm not a horribly, whiny person! It's just finals -- and I'm a senior, so...yeah, very important!)
<<< i totally agree!

Shaod Wrote:College is a peice of cake if you learn to manage and look at things more realistically.
Why take 4-5 classes when you can get by with 3? Yeah, colleges recommend that you take 4 classes minimum (Some 5 or more) but why bother when you can make it up in summer?
College is really all about YOU, and what you make out of it. Going to college requires your time to:
1. Show up for class
2. Study
3. Finish assignments
4. FREE TIME
Within a week and the amount of classes, you have SO MUCH free time.
Do not be intimidated by college. If anything, it is a lot easier than high school.
Anyways, it really depends on the person. I mean, if you really want to go to college, you would straighten out your priorities and put academics first.
Oh, and finals are easy if you learn to study throughout the quarter/semester instead of last minute. You can miss out on the parties over the weekend sometimes, and instead, take time to review! ;]
you make it sound too easy...although i guess it depends on wut program you're in. for example, in engineering in my university, they pretty much choose all the courses for you. i'm in first year, 1st term - 5 courses, 2nd term - 6 courses, all mandatory. and for the next 2 years i have 5 mandatory courses each term and one mandatory elective for 2 of those terms. 4th year, i get some options but i still hafta take at least 5 courses the 1st term then at least 6 courses the 2nd term. summers are work terms, i'm in a mandatory co-op program, so taking full-time courseloads in the summer is not a viable option.
and there's not as much free time as you think, although once again, it depends on the program. 30-35 hrs of class/labs/tutorials a week gets pretty hefty, considering professors recommend at least 2 hours of studyin for each hour of class.
and for a lotta ppl, it won't be easier than high school. sure, you get to move away from home and you get a lot more freedom, but that doesn't make it any easier. if university was easier than high school you wouldn't have guys who got into some tough programs with high mark requirements flunkin outta first year.

georgieyp Wrote:WinterFrost Wrote:Yeah I'm a college student! I hear ya about procrastinating, luckily, I haven't been doing much lately. I used to be so bad at it. Term papers suck as well, but hey, you're a senior, you're not too far from teh real world.
Haha, I don't know if I'm supposed to feel better about that whole being a senior and thus being closer to the real world comment...that's scarier! Or maybe it'll be better. Dunno. What are you studying?
Moi? J'étudie le français...et le coréen.
(Me? I'm studying French...and Korean.)
As for those of you who are going to be in college soon...where are you thinking of going? Where do you want to go? (if you haven't gotten these questions yet, don't you worry, you'll get it plenty. if you've already gotten them a million times, sorry!)
And, yes, a LOT of papers in college. Of course, the exact quantity will depend on your professor, your major, and...well, I dunno, other factors.
Ok, another paper to write! Off to work for me
not necessarily a lot of papers depend on major. but papers for sure
