The Top 200 Asian Universities List for Year 2009 has been released earlier today by the Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd., the world's leading network for top careers and education.
On the lead are:
1. University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
2. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
3. University of Tokyo ( Japan)
4. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong)
5. Kyoto University (Japan)
6. Osaka University (Japan)
7. KAIST - Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (South Korea)
8. Seoul National University (South Korea)
9. Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan)
10. National University of Singapore (NUS) (Singapore)
10. Peking University (China)
The number of universities per country listed are as follows:
Japan = 58 universities with 10 universities in the top 20 ranks
South Korea = 46 universities with three in the top 20
China = 39 universities with two universities in the top 20.
Taiwan = 15 universities
India = 11 universities
Thailand and Indonesia = 8 universities each
Malaysia = 6 universities
Hong Kong = 6 with four in the top 20, three of which occupied the 1st, 2nd & 4th slots.
Philippines = 4 universities
Singapore = 2 universities with both universities in the top 20 slots.
The universities are ranked according to the following indicators: Academic Peer Review; Recruiter Review; Student/Faculty Ratio; Papers Per Faculty; Citations Per Paper; International Faculty Review; International Students Review; Student Exchange Inbound; and, Student Exchanges Outbound.
Subjects taught in the universities are also ranked. The subjects are Life Sciences & Biomedicine; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences; IT & Engineering; and, Arts & Humanities

Rank 63 for UP seems far away but considering that it's the top spot amongst the 4 from Philippines and UP is a state university and the other 3 private ones, that says a lot!!! Congrats to the four Philippines universities! ... and you all have pretty high ratings under the Recruiters Review with UP on rank 10 followed by ADMU in rank 11, DLSU in rank 15 and UST in rank 21! Yay!
