Koo Hye Sun Biography
Koo Hye Sun is a multi-talented South Korean actress, commercial model, host, singer, writer, illustrator and director. She started as an uljjang or a cyber age Cinderella in which netizens voted her as "Best Face" via a photo posted on the internet paving the way for her celebrity status.
Her first acting credits are in KBS
Drama City on 2004 but her role as Geum Jan Di in
Boys Over Flowers made her a household name all throughout the Asian drama world. Her acting credits include MBC's 2005 drama
Nonstop, SBS dramas
Ballad of Suh Dong and
The King and I aired on 2005 and 2007 respectively, and KBS dramas
Pure 19 and
Strongest Chil Woo aired on 2006 and 2008 respectively.
She also appeared as a beggar in the US movie
August Rush.
While shooting for the hit drama
Boys Over Flowers, she spent her time writing "Tango," a love story about a girl falling in love with three guys. The book also showcased approximately 40 of her illustrations. Her illustration skills are also showcased in Korean singer Gummy's fourth album jacket.
Added to her portfolio of works are the short film she directed back in 2007 entitled
The Cheerful Caretaker which deals with euthanasia, the theme song she sang for the KBS drama
Pure 19, and a number of performances in music shows.
She was awarded New Actress Award in the 2006 KBS Acting Awards and New Star Award in the 2007 SBS Acting Awards.
