Girl’s Day is a 5 member South Korean girl group that debuted in 2010 under DreamT Entertainment. They received heavy promotion throughout social networking with a Cafe, YouTube channel, and Twitter accounts created for each member before their debut and gained greater public interest performing flash mobs in the streets of Seoul.
With successful publicity and their name on headlines, the group’s debut MV “Tilt My Head (Gyauttung)” was released, subsequently followed by their first mini-album “GIRL'S DAY PARTY #1”.
Just two months after the official debut however, DreamT Entertainment announced trough the groups official Twitter that Ji Sun and Ji In have departed from Girl's Day and would be replaced by two new members. Two days after the announcement the new members Yura and Hyeri were revealed. Their second single “Girl's Day Party #2” with the new line-up was released just 2 months later. They have since had several releases including the hit single “Twinkle Twinkle (Banjjak Banjjak)” and were also featured alongside U-Kiss in the We Got Married spin-off series We Are Dating.
What we like about them?
Girl’s Day could easily be seen as your run of the mill Korean pop group; however what sets them apart is that they have a tendency to venture into a genre that is unconventional. "Nothing Lasts Forever" for example is a blend of several genres that separates itself from the cuteness of not only songs by other artist but from their own music as well.
Their dedication and courage to display themselves in public with flash mobs even before their debut is something to admire. Girl's Day as far as I can tell is a hard working adorably unusual group that is gaining recognition as a group not to be underestimated or categorized.
