She was born to a Russian-American father and Japanese mother. She began a modeling career at age 14 when she was scouted by Seventeen magazine. Her demand as a model grew, and by 2002 she was doing television ads for UNIQLO, Edwin, and KOSE products. Even though she got involved in other projects afterwards, she today still remains an in-demand model for magazines like Kera, Soup, Zipper, and other youth punk fashion magazines.
In late 2002, Tsuchiya joined with ex-Oblivion Dust member Kaz Iwaike to form Spin Aqua. They released three singles, one album, and one video collection before Anna announced in November 2003 that she was pregnant (at age 19) by husband Joshua (another half-Japanese model) and was leaving the band. In February 2004, Anna gave birth to a baby boy and still remains married to Joshua to this day.
Anna was quiet musically until 2005, when she announced plans to go solo for the first time. On August 24, 2005 she released her first independent mini-album, Taste My Beat under AVEX's sub-label, Mad Pray Records. Her most recent single was released on March 23, 2006, called SLAP THAT NAUGHTY BODY/MY FATE. She also released her first remix album, Taste My xxxremixxxxxxx!!!!!!!! Beat Life! on the same day.
She also sings the opening song "Rose" from the NANA anime.
Anna made her acting debut in Novala Takemoto's adapted runaway hit Shimotsuma Monogatari (a.k.a. Kamikaze Girls) in 2004 as punk yankee Ichigo Shirayuri. Tsuchiya has also starred in Cha no Aji.
