In America we like our women cleanly shaved down there. It’s nice to be able to see a clean, neat vagina.
In Korea, it’s not the same. In fact, they want to make sure it’s nice and bushy. It’s considered a sign of fertility and sexual desirability. Why they think that is beyond me.
It’s an issue because public hair loss is very common in women of East Asian descent. The remedy? Pubic hair transplants.
According to Joyce Kong of Refinery29, she had an experience at a public woman’s bath that would leave most American girls wondering HUH? Every woman had a nice bush, and she was fully shaved. The women in the bath snickered at her as if she was an infertile monster.
For $2,000 you can get a nice full bush in a process called “bush grafting.” In this process you take hair from your head and transplant it onto your pubic hair. I kid you not. The women in Korea would rather have bald spots on their head than on their pussy.
And they’re doing it not because they want to satisfy their men. It’s because they want to look better in front of other women.
In a study from the Arumdaun Nara Dermatologic and Plastic Surgery Clinic in Seoul, 74% said they had gotten it done because of a “sense of inferiority to the same sex.”
According to the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors, 10% of Korean women have “pubic atrichosis,” which is a severe lack of pubic hair. Many Korean women reportedly suffer psychological stress from it.
To make matters even weirder, a statistic by a Korean hair restoration blog mentioned that customers of the pubic hair transformation can choose their new shape: inverted triangle, diamond, fan, or shield, with the shied and the fan being the two most popular.
Would you get pubic hair grafting?
