Haruhi Fujioka is a new student at Ouran Academy. Since she received a scholarship to attend the school, she must study hard to maintain her academics in order to stay in the academy. One day, as she searches for a quiet place to study, she stumbles across a music room. Assuming there is no one inside; she walks in to find a wonderfully decorated room. Inside, flower petals seem to fly out of nowhere and Haruhi is greeted by six very handsome men. Unaware that Haruhi is a girl, the men start asking her question to the point something unfortunate occurs. To make up for the incident, Haruhi must become a host at the Host Club. Still unaware of Haruhi's actual gender, Haruhi dresses in a male uniform and entertains the girls who visit the club. After her true gender is revealed, the men's reaction towards her changes and thus begins Haruhi's interesting high school life in Ouran Academy.

This anime is actually based on a manga (Japanese comic) of the same name and it's really good. The story in the anime is actually very similar to the one in the manga. It's both cute and funny. The idea of a girl being a host to other girls who are oblivious to her actual gender is so creative that this story never really gets dull. Of course, the anime doesn't just focus on Haruhi's life being a host; it provides a little background of the other characters a part of the host club who grow close to Haruhi. Some of the sub stories are deep and some are light but they're all very entertaining.

An adorable lead and six handsome men, what's not to love? The characters are so entertaining; it's hard to dislike them. They're so refreshing. Haruhi is a cute little girl who pretty much goes along with anything because she doesn't have much. Tamaki, the "king" of the host club is so vivacious, you get annoyed with him, but you can't help but laugh at the things he does when around Haruhi. Sometimes, you even root for him to come out on top. The twins, Hikaru and Kaoru are very mysterious but their little skits to capture the girls are so clever, it's so dirty. Honey sempai is so adorable. Although he's older than the rest, he's a lot smaller and perhaps the most childish with his bunny and his sweet tooth. Finally, there's Mori sempai. For some reason, he's my favorite. He's just so attractive (yes, I'm well aware of the fact that he's an anime character) with his tall figure and his speed, not to mention his refreshing aspect.

The animation is very good. Everything seems really sparkly and pretty. I suppose it's really "cute" animation with the characters appearances. There's nothing bad about it at all. You can see from the pictures that this anime is quite new and clean looking, and has a more modern art style. The music is alright. I don't really like the ending song but the beginning theme is okay. As for the music in between, it all goes along with what's happening in the scene, so it's good.

I'd probably recommend this one to the girls. After all, it's about a host club in a high class academy. The guy characters are amusing and everything about it is just too cute for a guy to really get into it. Though, I could be wrong. Guys might like the humor that's in it. Kids too young to know what a host club is might want to refrain from watching, but it's not that bad, really. All in all, this anime is really entertaining.
