Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien
Genre: Drama
Type: Series
When I started to watch this anime, it was very interesting. It started to get painful right around the tenth episode. A story that started out dealing with love, and then the story veered into immorality. It became seriously painful to watch mid-way, however, I felt as if I was compelled to finish the last few episodes.
Starting out, you'll find that the anime really gets your attention. Cliffhangers at the end of every episode will keep you thirsting for the next. It was quite hard for me to stop watching, and I knew I would be dying if I didn't watch the whole series together. Drama, drama, drama is the theme of the series, and I am glad to say that it is executed very well. Although no episode is truly "filler," there are some episodes that contained some meaningless scenes.
You pretty much are left to guess at what will happen at the end, and unfortunately, the ending isn't very fulfilling. While the beginning and middle were intensely gripping, the conclusion was not the finale that I was waiting for. When you reach the climax you are left wondering why the main character would choose to end events like this, especially since it basically negates the events of the whole series. The anime wasn't completely ruined, but it was very close. Was the ending dramatic' Absolutely. It was definitely a big twist to what you would expect. Was the ending right' No, it was too abrupt and lacked flavor and depth. It seems like a sequel would be needed for this anime, but the situation at the end is in a position where a sequel would be impossible. Basically, the producers screwed their own anime over. It's not completely a loss though, as the rest of the anime is almost perfect.
The characters each have very distinguished personalities. Each character is seemingly static, but they become dynamic at certain points in time, which makes for an amazingly emotional anime. The characters are realistic because the story is realistic. There are no robots, monsters, or super humans to be found in Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. The decisions the characters make can seem stupid or dumb for the viewer, but they are realistic decisions in very realistic situations. In fact, the story feels so real that it feels different from most animes that I have watched. There is only one character that I couldn't stand, and you'll pick her out immediately. Yes, the short blonde one.
Animation is very good in this movie. There is some nudity, however, no private parts are actually drawn in (basically you see a breast that is without nipple. Sick ain't it). The characters all looked very nicely drawn. Tears were ever so present during this movie, and emotion as a whole was captured exceptionally well during this series. The fact that the animation was so realistic and heart-warming was a crucial factor in the anime's overall appeal.
The music definitely added much of the emotion felt in the series. Sorrowful, dramatic tunes were very present during the whole series. The opening theme and ending theme seemed to match the series perfectly. Sadness was a huge theme during this anime, and I felt like the music really represented this well. Add the great voice actors and actresses and you find yourself with a near perfect anime sound-wise.
If you enjoy soap operas or dramas, then this is definitely a good anime to watch. I would not recommend this to anyone that is sensitive because it can really break your heartstrings. It's definitely one of the better animes out there, but it does have some imperfections. If you are looking to watch an anime that will make you feel happy and satisfied, don't watch this one. If you are looking to watch a powerful anime that will stir up strong emotions, then this may be what you have been searching for.
