Two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, the planet is finally recovering after the attack from Meteor. However, a deadly disease called Geostigma has become widespread, especially in children. Cloud Strife, our hero, also became infected with this disease, and as a result he believes he can't help anyone since he himself was infected by the disease. Mysterious men have suddenly begun to kidnap children with Geostigma, and Cloud is then driven to find out exactly who these men are and what they want with the children.

In comparison to the last Final Fantasy movie, Advent Children is Oscar-worthy. Fans of Final Fantasy VII will immediately grasp the storyline, however, if you are not familiar with the events of Final Fantasy VII, the movie might seem confusing. Yet, the story can still stand on its own without any previous experience with the series.

All the important characters from Final Fantasy VII appear in Advent Children; including Aeris, Barret, Tifa Lockhart, Cloud, Vincent, Zack, and even Sephiroth. If you liked those characters, then you will like how they are portrayed in Advent Children. Tifa and Cloud have been living together at the start of this movie, and they are the main protagonists. It's a shame that Square Enix did not include any romance between Tifa and Cloud because it's obvious that Tifa has feelings for Cloud. However, a romance couldn't really blossom because of Cloud's love for Aeris and his guilt for her death. Sephiroth is still the incredible bad-ass he was in the original game, although his role in this movie is limited to one breath-taking fight sequence.

The whole movie is computer generated, and like the previous Final Fantasy movie, looks almost life-like. Seamless computer graphics and amazing animation make this movie one of the best animated movies of its time. Action and fight scenes are spectacular, breath-taking, just jaw-dropping. It's incredible stuff, but it is expected from Square Enix, who has always been known to utilize great animation and graphics.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children is a joyride from the beginning to the end. Endless scenes of action continuously pump adrenaline into your body. It's a recommended title for anyone, but it's a must-see for anyone that liked Final Fantasy VII.
